What’s “Last Kiss Day?” It’s an unofficial holiday created by Swifties, inspired by a date Taylor Swift mentions in her song Last Kiss.
After a string of sold-out shows, Laser Taylor Swift will return to MOSI’s all-new Saunders Planetarium & Digital Dome Theatre, the second-largest planetarium in the country. Fans are immersed in full-dome laser visuals and booming surround sound for Enchanted, Cruel Summer, You Belong with Me, and other favorite Taylor Swift tunes.
The Experience
The show begins at 6:45 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Come early for pre-show fun, including delicious bites available for purchase from Station House BBQ and themed cocktails from the full-service bar. (Please note: food and drinks are not allowed inside the theatre.)
The experience kicks off with a live guided tour of the current night sky before diving into the high-energy laser show set to Taylor Swift’s chart-topping discography.
The Origin of “Last Kiss Day”
If you don’t have a Swiftie nearby to explain “Last Kiss Day,” here’s a snapshot. On Taylor Swift’s album Speak Now, the lyrics for the song Last Kiss refer to a specific date: July 9. Fans picked up on the date after the album was released in 2010 and started celebrating Taylor Swift’s songs and storytelling each year, on July 9.
“I do recall now the smell of the rain / Fresh on the pavement, I ran off the plane / That July ninth, the beat of your heart / It jumps through your shirt / I can still feel your arms”
The full verse fittingly captures her signature emotional twists and turns through romance, heartbreak, and nostalgia.
“Last Kiss Day” is the perfect occasion for a dazzling laser show under the dome. Tickets are $13 for non-members and $10 for MOSI members.
Past shows have sold out quickly, so advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended. For more details and to reserve a seat, visit MOSI.org.
