Two Ways to Make a Difference

Volunteering at MOSI is a rewarding experience, with the option to assist with either exhibits, events, or programming. Volunteers must be at least 15, and eligible to complete a background screening. Please see below for a full description of the role and requirements.

Camp Ambassador

Volunteering at MOSI is a popular way to complete community volunteering requirements for the Bright Futures Scholarship.

Camp Ambassadors assist with our school break camps (no camps on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day). This position is 8:30-5:00 M-F for the week of the camp assigned. Camp Ambassadors are there to aid the classroom teacher with day-to-day activities and prep, as well as assist during snack, lunch, and extended care.

*Fees are $40.00 for background screening

Special Event Volunteer

Event Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and successful execution of MOSI events. Volunteers will assist in various tasks, including event setup, registration, guest assistance, activity facilitation and event teardown. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event planning and execution, meet new people and contribute to a meaningful cause.

Requirements

MOSI Camp Ambassador Volunteer Requirements

*Returning volunteers are individuals whose last shift at MOSI occurred more than 90 days ago. All returning volunteers are required to be rescreened before signing up for any future shifts.

All applicants will need to successfully complete a background screening
Ages 15 and up
Experience working with children preferred
Previous experience working with volunteers preferred
Experience working with the public
Fees: $40 application fee applies to new volunteers or those with expired fingerprints, or $25 application fee applies to returning volunteers*

18 and up
Enthusiastic and positive attitude
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Dependable and punctual
Willingness to follow instructions and take initiative
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
