Science @ the Saunders is an exciting new event series hosted in MOSI’s state-of-the-art Saunders Planetarium. This ongoing program invites guests to explore the universe through captivating research talks, immersive star tours, and engaging Q&A sessions.

In honor of May the 4th, join us for sci-fi fun, laser demos, and photos with the 501st Legion. End the night with a special talk and immersive planetarium show exploring the real science behind a galaxy far, far away.

Designed to spark curiosity and celebrate the latest in astronomical research, Science @ the Saunders brings cutting-edge science to life in a way that’s exciting, interactive, and thought-provoking!

Dr. Alex McCormick

Dr. Alex McCormick teaches astronomy and physics as an instructor in the Department of Physics at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Prior to joining USF, he completed his PhD in astronomy at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he researched galaxy evolution, star formation, and the activity of supermassive black holes using space telescope data. When he’s not teaching, Dr. McCormick enjoys playing soccer, cooking, and trying to keep his bonsai tree alive.

  • Please enter from the 2nd Floor of the Holloway Digital Dome Theatre
  • If you choose to leave during the show, please exit AND re-enter on the 4th Floor
  • If you are late to the show, please enter on the 4th Floor

Food & Beverage

  • To help maintain the cleanliness and condition of the theatre, food and beverages are permitted only if they are properly contained. All drinks must have a secure lid, and all food items must be kept in some sort of container or bag while inside. Open food, uncovered beverages, or items that may spill are not permitted inside the theatre.

  • Accessible entry is located on the 4th Floor
