MOSI is fueled up with activities for space lovers and offers three stellar ways to see the historic liftoff

MOSI is offering three ways to see history unfold:

3… Watch NASA’s broadcast on the eight-story-tall Digital Dome Theatre screen

2… Gather outdoors to take in the launch with MOSI’s expert astronomers

1… Add a VIP experience to see the launch as you sip a cocktail atop MOSI’s dome (21+)

Before and after the scheduled 6:24 p.m. launch time, ask questions in a MOSI astronomer Q&A, get up-close with NASA in a 360-degree astronaut training film, and be wowed by a featured showing of the movie Forward! To The Moon in the Saunders Planetarium and Digital Dome Theatre.

An Event to Remember

When the watch party blasts off, the festivities will kick off in MOSI’s Saunders Planetarium and Digital Dome Theatre with Forward! To The Moon, a 360-degree movie that surrounds you with the story of space exploration. Then, watch NASA’s live launch coverage on the massive screen. MOSI experts will provide live commentary throughout the buildup to the countdown.

The night will also feature Q&A sessions with MOSI astronomers and a 360-degree NASA astronaut training film. Revisit history with an Artemis I launch recap and archival footage from the legendary Apollo missions.

For a more exclusive perspective, an add-on VIP Experience will bring you to the top of the MOSI dome to witness the Artemis II launch (ages 21 and up). Enjoy food and drinks, including adult beverages. As the stars come out, dedicated telescope stations will deliver beautiful views of the heavens.

More for Moon-Lovers During the Day

During the day of the launch, MOSI will transform into a dedicated space exploration celebration, centering the visitor experience around the Artemis mission. Throughout the museum, interactive space-themed stations invite guests of all ages to engage with the science of the mission, building anticipation for the historic launch ahead.

The Saunders Planetarium and Digital Dome Theatre will show Forward! To The Moon and include a special Star Tour specifically focused on lunar exploration, sharing the precise trajectory of the Artemis mission.

A curated History of Spaceflight pop-up exhibit will take you along the path that brought America to Artemis. Follow a detailed timeline spanning NASA’s Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle eras, with 3D-printed models of iconic spacecraft and historic moon landing footage.

Houston, What if We Have a Problem?

Of course, the launch is under NASA’s control, not MOSI’s; if the launch is postponed, tickets will automatically roll over to the next launch date. Tickets to MOSI’s Artemis II Launch Watch Party range in price from $15 for MOSI members and children to $30 for adults and $45 for VIPs (21+). Tickets are available now at mosi.org.

The Artemis II mission marks NASA’s first crewed journey around the Moon in more than 50 years. According to NASA, the Artemis II voyage is another step toward “a sustained presence on the Moon that will help the agency prepare to send astronauts to Mars.”
