FINAL WEEKEND: Enter the Genius Mind of Leonardo da Vinci Before His Sketchbook Slams Shut

TAMPA, FL (MAY 1, 2026) – MOSI, Tampa’s Museum of Science & Innovation, invites families to witness the mechanical marvels of Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion before the temporary exhibit departs on May 3. In this life-size inventor’s playground, guests of all ages can try out a hydraulic saw powered by a water wheel, torque Leonardo’s spinning battery—an invention that stores energy as it revolves—and be awestruck by the sight of da Vinci’s flying machines.

At MOSI, get tactile with life-sized recreations of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous sketches and incredible inventions

Get hands-on with re-creations of Leonardo da Vinci’s sketches and inventions and bring history to life through touch. These life-sized machines were hand-built by skilled craftsmen in Italy, using the same techniques and tools that da Vinci himself would have used in the Renaissance, more than 500 years ago.

Each creation is a work of art (please, touch the art!), taken from da Vinci’s four classical elements—Earth, Water, Air and Fire—with each one revealing a new facet of his endless curiosity.

This is the largest hands-on display of full-size Leonardo da Vinci machines ever assembled. Interacting with this exhibition will give you a glimpse into the mind of the man who also painted the world’s most famous painting, the Mona Lisa.

Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion is included with MOSI admission. Learn more about the exhibit at mosi.org.
