Field Trip FAQs

Where is the drop off location?

Buses can drop students off at the group greeting gate right before the main entrance. A MOSI group greeter will direct your group into our outdoor science park for a brief orientation and to review the schedule with your group leader. Please refer to the group map in your information packet for full instructions.

Where do we park?

After dropping off students at the group greeting gate, buses are free to park in the overflow parking lot, close to the 50th street entrance.

What if my group numbers have changed?

Not a problem, after your group is unloaded, a MOSI greeter can direct your group leader to the front box-office to adjust your numbers as needed.

What if we are running late?

If you know your group is going to be late, please call us at (813) 987-6000 to let us know. If you have educational programs or shows, we will do our best to accommodate the change in your schedule without conflicting with other groups.

How does lunch work?

Groups are encouraged to make their own lunch plans around any programs they have scheduled during their visit. We recommend that you bring packed lunches in coolers, which will be stored for you until lunch time and your departure.

Do I need to divide my group?

Dividing up your group yourself is recommended if you have multiple program sessions. Please keep in mind that most workshops have a maximum of 30 people per session.

Do adults need to pay?

MOSI mandates a minimum of one adult (18 years or older) chaperone for every ten children. Consequently, we provide one complimentary adult admission for every group of 10 children. Any additional adults are required to pay at the group rate.

What do I need to know before I arrive?

Before your visit, MOSI will send you an information packet containing essential details. This typically includes your program and session times, a campus map, and the anticipated arrival time and expected number of students. It is crucial to ensure that all chaperones are well-informed about the meeting locations and timings to enhance coordination.

Are there any rules that I can review with my students?

A MOSI group greeter will review expectations with your students when you arrive. In general, we ask chaperones and students to remain within eyesight of each other, to avoid running indoors, and to treat exhibits and other guests with respect.
