Families Invited to Step into the Mind of Leonardo da Vinci with Workshop at MOSI

TAMPA, FL (February 11, 2026) – Registration is now open for MOSI’s newest family workshop, Invent Like da Vinci, where families will team up to tackle engineering challenges inspired by Leonardo da Vinci, one of history’s most celebrated thinkers. On February 21, spend quality time together inventing, building, and exploring.

Hands-on Workshop Inspired by MOSI’s Newest Traveling Exhibition, Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion

In this two-hour interactive workshop at MOSI, Tampa’s Museum of Science & Innovation, family members will work together to build and test a catapult, engineer a balloon-powered car racer, and test out flying machines and/or parachutes. They’ll also brainstorm, sketch, and prototype an original invention of their own. Throughout the experience, families will explore how curiosity and creativity fuel innovation in the fields of STEAM: science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

After the workshop, guests are encouraged to explore MOSI’s limited-time Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion exhibit. In this life-size mechanical playground, you’ll have the chance to marvel at the artist’s flying machines, try out a hydraulic saw powered by a water wheel, and give Leonardo’s spinning battery a whirl—all based on the imaginative sketches found in Leonardo da Vinci’s famed notebooks.

Workshop Details:

DATE: February 21, 2026 from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

COST: Members: $30 per team of one adult and one child team | Mon-members: $40 per adult/child team

Additional team member: Members: $10 | Non-members: $15
Maximum of 3 people per team

AGE: Children age 7+

The Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion exhibit will be displayed at MOSI for a limited time, now through the end of May. This traveling exhibition is included with your museum ticket.
