MOSI brings cosmic activities, demonstrations, after-dark stargazing, and more to Tampa on Oct 4-10

October 4-10, communities around the globe are celebrating World Space Week, an international celebration of space science, technology, and exploration. The United Nations-declared observance has grown into the largest annual space event on Earth, with 50,000 events held across 102 countries last year.

MOSI is joining the celebration with a full week of hands-on activities, demonstrations, planetarium shows, and stargazing. With an overall theme of “Rocket Revolution,” Space Week at MOSI will take guests across the universe, with daily themes exploring everything from rockets and black holes to asteroids, telescopes, and life as an astronaut.

SPACE WEEK AFTER DARK

On Friday, Oct. 9, the celebration continues after the Museum closes with a special Space Week edition of SkyWatch from 8-10 p.m.

MOSI astronomers will bring the night sky into view through telescopes positioned throughout the outdoor Science Park and up to the top of the Holloway Digital Dome Theatre. Guests can explore stars, planets, and galaxies while talking with MOSI’s astronomy experts.

SkyWatch is $5 for non-members and free for MOSI members. Registration is required, and space is limited.
