GREAT ESCAPES
Join the experienced trip leaders of MOSI on an escape through Florida to explore the wonders right in our backyard. Great Escapes are ideal for adults and families who want to explore similar interests. Pre-registration is required. Register at www.campfun.org or by calling (813) 987-6000.

There is a $2.50 convenience fee for phone reservations.

FAMILY SPACE MISSION
Friday, September 26, 2008
11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Take your family on the ultimate vacation: Outer Space. Enter the spacecraft through the rotating airlock to begin your adventure. Work together with other families to crew a space mission in the Verizon Challenger Learning Center. Do you have the right stuff? Children must be 8 years and up.

FLORIDA CANOE ADVENTURE

9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Splash into Florida’s freshwater habitat! Explore the scenic Hillsborough River with MOSI naturalists. Learn basic paddling techniques as you observe native plants and animals. Search the skies for birds and the shores for otters and raccoons. You never know what wonderful surprises await you as you glide through these wilds. Pack a lunch and bring extra water.

WITHLACOOCHEE STATE FOREST CAVE TRIP
Friday, January 30, 2009
9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Explore underground caverns in the Withlacoochee State Forest where stalactites, stalagmites, and other geological treasures are found. Look out for bats as you crawl through twisting caverns. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and clothing you won’t mind getting dirty. Program involves walking and crawling. Bring a hat, flashlight, lunch, and plenty of water. All participants will meet near the caves north of Brooksville. Directions will be provided with your confirmation letter. The trip is designed for adults and for children over 8 accompanied by an adult.

FOSSIL DIG
Friday, March 20, 2009
9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Dig for fossils with a MOSI paleontologist! Learn about animals from our past. Find ancient sea biscuits, sea urchins, and other marine fossils. Wear sturdy walking shoes, sunscreen, and a hat. Bring a garden trowel, hammer, sunscreen, hat, and camera. Pack a lunch and bring extra water. Dig requires one adult companion per family. All participants will meet near the fossil site north of Brooksville. A map with directions will be sent with your confirmation letter.
